Kapaskids was born out of awareness of our Malaysian art, the batik. An intricate art which is labour intensive, requires many back breaking hours and patience. We as Anak Malaysia, not only talk Malaysia, eat Malaysia but wear Malaysia too. Appreciation on batik should start at a young age to instil appreciation and to be proud of the materials and designs, which are part of our rich culture and invaluable heritage. With these two combinations i.e.batik and children, we strive to provide more options for batik as a daily wearable choice to our Anak Malaysia.
Now in December 2020, we are very much thankful to have the opportunity to share our journey with everyone. Our team is small and all our designs are curated pieces with limited production. We hope each of our designs introduces the children to Batik and in return hope they love them as much as we do.
Our mission is to make Batik appeal to the younger generations starting with kids. The vibrant colours of the Batik matches our little Anak Malaysia. We want this generation to see Batik as prints rather than what was don by their grandparents or parents in formal function. Batik is versatile enough to match all occasions, especially in our daily lives not only as the sarong which we wrap around lounging at home. We want to make Batik trendy, relevant and cool to our younger generation so that it becomes more wearable as the daily choice of children of all ages.
All our products are 100% locally made. We want to keep our arts, our skills, our culture thriving which leads to our Batik makers, our blok makers or tailors very much alive and thriving too. Our journeys are always with batik and kids in mind, and for our younger generation to value our culture and heritage. Teach the children as they are our future.
